MAY 2012 TANZANIA HIGHLIGHTS SAFARI – 7 DAYS
This safari runs as from Sunday 6th May until 12th May the year 2012. As per the title the safari covers all the highlights of the Northern Safari Circuit in Tanzania. This includes the Tarangire , Lake Manyara, Tarangire,Serengeti National Park, and The Ngorongoro Crater. The safari starts and ends ta the safari getway town of Arusha and ends there where it will be optional for you to go to Zanzibar for a beach extension or even for a Kilimanjaro Climb if you so wish.
For those who would wish to extend to Zanzibar Island we can arrange your flights and beach hotel depending on what category or style you would like to stay in. We also give advise on any resort/hotel in Zanzibar that you have in mind. We can recommend or caution you on any accommodation that you would like to pick and give you our first hand knowledge of any hotel in Zanzibar. As for the Kilimanjaro lovers we can also arrange your climb before the start of the safari on 6th May. Just let us know in advance ane let us know the route you are looking forward to take on.
Safari Itinerary
Sunday 6th May 2012: Arrival at Arusha
On this day we will met you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and take you to the Mountain Village Lodge in Tengeru just a few kilometers before Arusha town. Here you will have a short safari briefing with our Operations Manager and there after left to rest. Dinner is included.
{Incase you arrive via another airport like Dar es Salaam or Nairobi we can arrange your connection flight at the prevailing rate that will depend on the aviation company used, arrival time and availability of the flight itself.}
Monday 7th May 2012: Lake Manyara National Park
At around 7.00 AM you will be awake and ready for breakfast. 08.00 AM everyone is ready for take off and at 08.30 AM we depart to the Lake Manyara National Park a small park that is lush green throughout the year owing to its underground water supply. It is only one and ahalf drive on tarmac road from Arusha town so you will after registration at the parks gate you will go ahead with game drives in the park untill time for lunch at any of the picnic sites inside the park. Lake Manyara is well known for its legendary tree climbing lions and the flocks of flamingos and many other aquatic and no aquatic birds that adds to the colourfullness of this small gem lik park. Late in the afternoon you will drive to Lake Manyara Serena Lodge. Overlooking the Lake Manyara with stunning views below.
Tuesday 8th May 2012: Serengeti National Park
We wake up relatively early because today we are heading to Serengeti National Park around a 5 hours drive with stops included. We will first stop at Loduare Gate for registration to transit the Ngorongoro Conservation Area then a secnd stop the Ngorongoro Crater’s view point for some awe inspiring views over the Crater floor. We will then have a briefstop at th Olduvai Gorge where the Leakey family discovered the early hominid that suggest that humanity started in Africa. The last stop will be at Naabi Gate through which we enter the Serengeti ; the first to be gazzeted, the largest and the most celebrated national park in Tanzania and East Africa at large. Lunch will be served on the way as a picnic lunch and there after we continue with game drives towards the lodge. Dinner and overnight will be at Serengeti Sopa Lodge. All meals are included.
Wednesday 9th May 2012: Serengeti National Park
A very early morning game drive is available for those who wish to see the nocturnal predators retire for the days sleep and the diurnal species waking up for a new day. This will be a treat for the early risers but if you wish you will relax untill after breakfast when we all go out for a full day of game drives. The Great wildebeest Migration usually concentrates at the central areas of Serengeti National Park and around the Seronera river and this is the best time for you to witness this woderfull natural phenomenon that has never ceased to amaze safari goers and naturalists and scientists alike. No Safari in Tanzania is complete without seeing this. After a day of game drives we later retire to the Serengeti Sopa Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Hot Air Balloon Safari is also a nother option on this morning. With only USD 499 per person you can go for the once in a lifetime ride over the Serengeti to enjoy gameviewing aloft a hot air balloon. This is should be booked well in advance becuase there are very limited slots per day available. Please bokk this together with your seat for the safari or atleast one month prior to the safari.
Thursday 10th May 2012: Serengeti National Park
Another amazing day because we are today heading to the 8th wonder of the world, the Ngorongoro Crater. We wake up early today and drive to the Ngorongoro Crater with a brief stop at a Masai Boma (village on the way). On arrival and after registration we descend into the 600m deep walls of the worlds largest unbroken caldera which plays host to the greatest concentration of wild animals in the world. Here you get to see animals at amazingly close distance and who knows; you may get the chance to witness all teh Big 5 on this single days with just a little bit of luck. Picnic lunch will be served at a site by the hippo pool, and then go on with game drives untill later in the afternoon when you ascend up the Crater rim for dinner and overnight at the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge. All meals included.
Friday 11th May 2012: Tarangire National Park
Breakfast at day break and then we are off to the Tarangire National Park the third largest in Tanzania. We cross the small market towns of Karatu and Mto wa Mbu where you will make a briefstop if you wish, to mingle with the locals and do some shopping of Souvenirs. We will then drive to the park for a day of gamedrives. Tarangire National Park is highlighted with the largest herds of elephants and the gigantic baobab trees that dot the park. The park also boasts some of the rare species like the fringe eared oryxes and ashy sterlings. Dinner and overnight will be at Tarangire Sopa Lodge, All meals are included.
Saturday 12th May 2012: Tarangire National Park
At day break we go for a last early morning game drive (if you wish) or go for a morning nature walk at teh park boundaries guided by a Maasai warrior. We shall there after check out of teh lodge and drive back to Arusha for an early lunch at Shanga Restaurant.
For those flying to Zanzibar, you will be transfered to the Arusha Airport for your flight to Zanzibar and for those fying back home, wil be transfered to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure. A day room at KIA Lodge can also be arranged at a supplement.
