14-Day Kilimanjaro Climb and Tanzania Safari Highlights

Overview of the Kilimanjaro Climb (8-Day Lemosho Route)

The 14-Day combined Kilimanjaro and safari package begins with an 8-day Kilimanjaro trek via the Lemosho Route, a scenic, less-crowded path to Uhuru Peak.

Lemosho pans about 70 km, and this route crosses rainforests, moorlands, alpine deserts, and glaciers, offering high summit success rates (85-90%) due to its gradual ascent and extra acclimatization day.

The 8 day trek starts at Londorossi Gate (2,360 m), and the trail weaves through monkey-filled forests, traverses the Shira Plateau, and scales the Barranco Wall, with stunning views of Kibo Peak.

This is a camping route unlike Marangu Route where hikers sleep in montain huts. You will be camping through out the Kilimanjaro climb, supported by expert guides, porters, and cooks who provide tents, meals, and gear transport. It is worthy noting that your Kilimanjaro crew will expect tips at the end of the hike, before you proceed to Arusha for your safari. Ask our experts for insights on the tipping tradition and recommended tips at the time you travel.

Good fitness, proper gear (warm layers, trekking poles), and mental stamina are essential for the summit night’s ascent. This 14-Day Kilimanjaro climb and safari ensures a rewarding climb with panoramic summit vistas. Remember ‘Pole Pole’ which means slowly by slowly is key to success on your endeavor to conquer the highest Mountain in Africa, which is also the highest freestanding volcano in the world.

Best Time to Take the 14-Day Kilimanjaro Climb and Tanzania Safari

The dry seasons—January-March and June-October—are the best for this 14-Day Kilimanjaro climb and safari.

For Kilimanjaro, January-February and August-October offer clear skies, mild temperatures (0-15°C on summit night), and minimal rain, which is ideal for trekking. June-September is also suitable, with cooler conditions. While you can climb any time of the year, it is usually good to avoid long rains season in April & May.

For the safari, June-October is the best time, with Serengeti’s Great Migration (June-September) and Tarangire’s wildlife concentrated at water sources during this dry season. Ngorongoro Crater ensures reliable sightings year-round.

Daytime temperatures (20-28°C) suit game drives. November-December offers fewer crowds and lush landscapes, though showers may occur.

April-May is less ideal due to rain and muddy trails on Kilimanjaro, but climbing is still allowed and safari lodges and camps cost the least at that period. If you want to save and experience luxury on safari, that is the time to travel.

July to September is the best window for climbing and wildlife. Booking should be done well in advance for anyone who wishes to travel at this time, because it is peak season and availability at short notice can challenging.
