The 3-day tour is a great package for all ages due to the short distances involved because all the 3 parks that you will visit are located not very far from one another. Starting and ending from Zanzibar Airport the 3 day Tanzania safari takes you to three of the best parks in the Northern Circuit including; the Ngorongoro Crater (one of the two most famous wildlife parks in Tanzania) the Tarangire National Park and the Lake Manyara National Park a small evergreen gem of its own kind.

Starting with Tarangire National Park you will visit this theater of the wild that is famous for its unusually huge herds of elephants and the gigantic baobab trees that dot the park, as well as rare species like gerenuks and oryxes. Accommodation during the safari can be in a nice tented camp/lodge in the vicinity of the park just outside the park boundary with great views over the plains across as well as the Lake Burunge in the far horizon. You may also opt to stay at a cheaper mid-range lodge in the Karatu area where we can take you late in the afternoon after satisfactory game drives in the Tarangire, That way you can stay in one lodge for the whole safari.

3 Day Tanzania Safari from Zanzibar – Where to visit

You will then proceed with your 3 day Tanzanian safari adventure with a visit to the Ngorongoro Crater; a UNESCO world heritage site and world-famous for extraordinary numbers of wildlife which can be spotted at very close range. Think of lions, elephants, leopards, black rhinos, buffaloes; all the big five can be spotted in this ‘Eden of Africa’ in one day with a little bit of luck! Accommodation on this day can be in a lodge located directly at the Crater rim (at extra cost) or at the nice mid-range lodge that we have included in this published tour in Karatu which is just a few minute’s drive away from the main gate to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area ie Loduare Gate.

The three-day Tanzania safari, which starts and ends at Zanzibar Airport, takes you to three of the best parks in Tanzania’s Northern Circuit, including the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the country’s two most well-known wildlife parks, the Tarangire National Park; best placcing for spotting eleohnats, and the tiny yet unique Lake Manyara National Park; the land of the legendary tree climbing lions.

Your third and last day of your 3 days safari in Tanzania from Zanzibar will be visiting the evergreen Lake Manyara National Park, well known for its legendary tree-climbing lions among many other animals and birds that can be seen in this small park. The park is a good place to see the hippos at the lakeside but also you may be lucky to spot flamingos, and many other aquatic birds, with over 400 bird species having been recorded here. Lake Manyara is one of the must-visit parks for bird lovers.

Later in the afternoon, you will be dropped back at the Arusha Domestic Airport for your flight back to Zanzibar Island. You can also be dropped (at a small fee) at the Kilimanjaro International Airport if departing on this day from Kilimanjaro or take a flight to Dar es Salaam instead in case your international departure is from Dar es Salaam on the last day of your 3 day safari in Tanzania starting from Zanzibar. 3 Days Tanzania Safari from Zanzibar itinerary

Day 01

Zanzibar - Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Take an early morning flight from Zanzibar to Arusha where you will be picked by your safari guide. You will start your safari straightaway on arrival with a drive further through the Masai Steppe via Makuyuni Junction and over down to the Tarangire National Park. This is now the fifth largest park, of all parks in Tanzania, and the Tarangire National Park is dotted with amazingly big Baobab trees and the extraordinary large herds of elephants; Tarangire is quite a place not to miss while on your African safari to Tanzania if you are a lover of the jumbos or other general large game. The park is home to many animal species and some rare breeds like the Oryx and hirolas, and some rare birds species. Later in the afternoon we drive out of the park and head further north to Karatu where you will check in at a lodge for dinner and overnight. Overnight being at the Country Lodge, Karatu or similar lodge. Lunch and dinner included.

Day 02

3 Days Tanzania Safari - Ngorongoro Crater

After an early morning breakfast at you lodge / camp at sunrise then you will check out and drive towards the Ngorongoro Crater also known as the 8th Wonder of the world and a UNESCO world heritage site. On arrival you will register at the Loduare Main Gate after which you will descend into the Crater for a wonderful game drive (with a picnic lunch on the crater Floor. Ngorongoro Crater is often described as one of the wonders of the world. The ‘Crater’ (not actually a crater) is world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a known natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s densest animal populations. This is also one of the few places in the world where the rare black rhino can be observed in their natural habitat. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, many birds and other species. With a bit of luck the Big 5 can be spotted during one game drive only with the help of your hawk eyed safari guide. Later in the afternoon you will ascend to the Crater rim and check in at a lodge ( at extra cost) or we will take you to our regular lodge at Karatu just outside the conservation Area near the gate. Overnight at Country Lodge at Karatu or similar. All meals included

Day 03

Lake Manyara - Arusha - Zanzibar Island

Early morning breakfast at the lodge (or you can also carry a packed breakfast & lunch) and descend into the floor of the Great Rift Valley where you will visit the Lake Manyara National Park on the last day of your 3 days safari in Tanzania. The name ‘Manyara’ is a Maa word (Maasai Language) for the Pencil cactus tree (euphorbia tirucalli) species which the nomadic Maasai people use to make hedges to protect their homesteads and livestock. The park is highlighted with lots of these trees and the tree-climbing lions which are often spotted taking afternoon siesta on the branches. Many other animals are a common sighting in this evergreen park and they include; the impalas, giraffes, buffaloes, impalas and the dik diks.
You will notice that just as you enter this park there an ever-green lush forest fed by an underground water streams and it is a perfect habitat for the Blue monkeys, the baboons, bushbucks and the huge elephants sheltering in the sheds from the afternoon sun and devouring the green branches, twigs, and herbs. The Hippo pools and at Lake Manyara itself you will get the chance to observe the Hippos and the aquatic birds including the colorful Flamingos, pelicans, Egyptian geese, cormorants, and many more.
You will do game drives until mid-day then drive to Arusha where you will be dropped Arusha Domestic Airport for a flight to Zanzibar departing around 16.45 hrs and arriving at Zanzibar by 18.00 hrs. If you are departing from Kilimanjaro on the last day we can also drop you off at Kilimanjaro International Airport at a very nominal fee. Lunch box and dinner included.
