Where this 5 day safari Tanzania takes you

The 5-day safari in Tanzania starts and ends back at Arusha town which is the base town for all the safaris that we offer in the Northern Tanzania Safari Circuit. On this safari you get to visit all the most famous parks in the Northern Tanzania Safari Circuit namely; Tarangire National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater as well as the endless plains of the Serengeti National Park.5-Day safari Tanzania

A classic safari in Tanzania for 5 days like this gives a chance to sample all what this beautiful country has to offer in terms of wildlife safari.

Our 5-day Tanzania safari starts with a visit to Tarangire National Park a vast park (5th largest in Tanzania) where you will hope to see many large and small game alike including the rare ones like the long necked gerenuks, and the oryxes.

Tarangire National Park is well known for the large herds of elephants (sometimes 300 hundred strong) and enormous baobab trees, some believed to be more than a thousand years old. The park gets it’s name from Tarangire River which is the blood line for the park. many animals flock teh banks for the valuable drop of water and they draw the predators to the banks which results to very interesting wildife action around this area.

Serengeti National Park is the second largest after Ruaha National Park, but the most famous park in the Northern Circuit owing to the fact that it is the home to the wildebeest migration. Every year between between June and october sees more than a million herds of wildebeests accompanied by more than 400,000 Thomson’s gazelles, 300,000 zebras and about 12,000 elands ponder the endless plains traversing the vast Serengeti National Park from South through Central Serengeti and the Western Corridor and ultimately to the Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya in Search for fresh grass and water. Between Mid July and September every year thousands of visitors flock Northern Serengeti to try their luck in witnessing the world famous animal spectacle that sees the animals dare the dangerously Nile crocodile infested Mara River a phenomenon often referred to as ‘The Great Wildebeests Migration’.

Other resident animals in their thousands roam the Serengeti all year round. This 5-day Tanzania safari takes you to the second most famous wildlife area; The Ngorongoro Crater which is also a UNESCO world heritage Center. The Ngorongoro Crater which is actually a large caldera which resulted from the collapse of an ancient enormous Volcano; believed to have been larger than Mt Kilimanjaro, which is the highest mountain in Africa.

Where to stay in the 5-day Tanzania Safari

This is a ‘lodge safari’ so you will be staying in a nice mixture of comfortable mid range lodges and tented camps for that ‘out of Africa’ feel, but if you wish you can also do an ‘all brick and mortar lodge stay’ safari at a revised price. Ask our safari experts for free customization.

The tour as published includes two nights at Karatu in the Ngorongoro Highlands; both the first and last night. We have picked the Farm of Dreams Lodge a great mid range lodge in Karatu, but depending on room availability you can also stay at other options at the same price. Options like the Country Lodge Karatu, Bougainvillea Safari Lodge or the Marera Valley Lodge. upgrades to more luxurious accommodations located in the same area or inside the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (some at the edge of the Crater’s rim) are also available.

On the first night you may choose to sleep at camps or lodges inside the Tarangire National Park or just outside the boundaries, for example a nice midrange camp known as Sangaiwe Tented Lodge. Sangaiwe boasts great views over the plains and the Lake Burunge further afield.

At Serengeti we have included the Tukaone Serengeti Weavers Camp, a great mid range camp in Central Serengeti not far from the Airstrip and visitors center. You can also stay at the Serengeti Hembe Camp which is located towards the Western Corridor ideal for dates that fall between May and July.

The lodges and tented camps included in this tour are comfort style or upper mid-range. They are safe and clean with great food. However if you want the same package customized to a more luxurious affair we can offer you the same package as a 5-day Safari Tanzania luxury option package.

After breakfast at your camp you will then spend the day doing game drives for the whole day within the Serengeti National Park. The name Serengeti comes from a Maasai word ‘Siringit’ meaning plains without end and true to the name you will explore vast stretches of African Savannah in search of the many animals that Serengeti has to offer.
